Dr. Lawing studies the response of species and communities to environmental change and uses that knowledge to inform our understanding of what to expect under impending climate change. She received her BS and MS in biology at the Univ of Texas at Arlington before getting her PhD at Indiana Univ in ecology, evolution, and behavior and in geological sciences. Dr. Lawing spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) before joining the department of Ecosystem Science and Management. After departmental reorganization, she is now a member of the department of Ecology and Conservation Biology.
