Spiny Lizard Fieldwork

This Summer researchers from the Lawing lab and colleagues trekked across the State Parks of South Texas looking for spiny lizards.

Alex Howard writes: We use these field seasons to gather data about habitat use and population density in different species of Sceloporus spiny lizards. This involves using fishing poles with a little piece of string attached to catch lizards, which we then take back to the field station to take all sorts of measurements, including colour spectrometry and bite force. All lizards then get released safe and sound where we found them.
