Giovanna has a Bachelor degree in Biology from Sao Paulo State University – UNESP, and has worked with research and volunteering in many different fields during her undergraduate years. This has included sea turtles, bats, manatees, tropical birds and primates. During her time as an undergraduate, her main research focus was studying a root parasitic plant and its relation with its marsupial pollinators.
Currently she is a Masters student in Ecology, Evolution and Biodiversity program from UNESP – Rio Claro and is doing a six months internship at Texas A&M University through funding from FAPESP foundation. Her current work involves studying the distribution and conservation of primates, more specifically the Amazon marmosets, and her goal with this research is to help build and plan a conservation program for the forests of southern Amazon using those marmosets as flagship species.
Giovanna’s main interests are researching and working directly with ecology, conservation and biodiversity from tropical environments.
